Band Story
The Booleans have a long history going back to the early 90s. Tim Duquette, Mike Sizensky and Brian Camire formed the original nucleus of The Booleans playing in multiple basements and garages. They were heavily influenced by Better than Ezra, Foo Fighters and RadioHead. Their style is best described as rock with hints of punk, pop and folk. Tim's soulful vocals, combined with Mike's effortless fills and Brian's relentless sense of rhythm created an all-american, classic and complete sound. In 1996, James joined as the bass player. They started out on Green Day and Better Than Ezra covers and migrated into many other genres including folk and country.
Kim Mayo soon joined and was a perfect complement to the group. She adds a deep rhythm guitar sound, amazing rich harmonies and is a driving force behind much of their original music. Each member brings a rich and unique style and passion to the band, but they all share a common deep love of music...and the song remains the same...
Tim was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI, where he developed his soulful singing and playing style. He started playing at age 16 and has never stopped evolving his style. By age twenty-two, he had his first taste of live performances at Ocean State Percussion live mic nights. He truly pours his soul and sweat into every performance.
He is often described as the soul of the band.
Tim is influenced by Better Than Ezra, RadioHead and the Foo Fighters. His favorite color is teal and he loves the Giants
Siz was born and raised in Seekonk and started playing guitar in the womb. It is safe to say that his style is influenced by Rush's Alex Leifson and is able to play any Rush song on command. His technique can be described as effortless, flawless and Rush-like, but with strong emotion.
He is extremely versatile, also playing harmonica and providing soulful backing vocal harmonies.
Kim and James strive to someday match his style, ability and olivey skin.
James first got interested in music through his Dad. His father played piano, guitar, trumpet, violin and could sing. He learned about music listening to his Dad's John Denver and Neil Diamond 8-tracks and hanging out in Camire's basement. His own musical career started in 7th grade playing trumpet where he first met Kim. He started playing the guitar and bass in college and the first song he learned was Don't Fear the Reaper by BOC. From there he was hooked. He joined the current line-up in 1996, switched full-time to bass and never looked back. The first songs that they did were Pulling Teeth and Zombie. He loves his Boolean family very much.
Lard has always been a drummer and was fourtunate to grow up in such a musically influeced family. Lard is the backbone of the band holding down the beat. He has a broad knowledge and interest in all types of music, but is heavily influenced by punk and rock genres. He is relentless and can be described as a human metronome
